Sliney Assumes Command of Deer Valley Composite Squadron

On October 21, 2024, in a time-honored ceremony, Maj. Nic Fuqua relinquished command of Deer Valley Composite Squadron. Col. Linda Yaeger, Arizona Wing commander, accepted the squadron flag from Fuqua, then passed it to 1st Lt. Patrick Sliney. With three simple words, "I accept command," Sliney began his three-year term as commander of one of the largest squadrons in Arizona Wing. 

The first thing Sliney did after taking command was thank his wife, 2nd Lt. Cheryl Sliney, for supporting him during his CAP journey. There are also three Sliney sons in the cadet program.

He originally joined CAP in September 2019 and has served as deputy commander for cadets since September 2021.
